The Surrey Compact
The Surrey Compact is a jointly agreed framework of principles to guide the
relationship between the voluntary and community sector and public sector
bodies in Surrey. The Surrey Compact was launched in July 2004 and it aims to
help us:
- Communicate better with each other
- Understand and respect each other's views
- Work together more effectively to support the people of Surrey.

Surrey CVS Network members are part of the Compact Working Group and a long
with a wide range of groups and organisations has helped to create the Surrey
Compact. Five Codes of Practice underpin the Compact and will help us bring
the Compact's principles into day-to-day work. The Codes are:
Since the completion of the Funding code the Surrey Compact Working Group
has now started work on the development of the Volunteering Code.

Compact Plus
Compact Plus is a proposed vehicle for strengthening Compact and its implementation.
It suggests potential mechanisms for helping to improve the implementation and monitoring
of Compact and its Codes of Practice, and increasing a focus on the funding relationship
- both areas where the Home Office feels there is room for improvement.
